Regulatory Litigation
Defending Regulatory Complaints and Disciplinary Hearings
Many professions in Ontario are governed by regulatory bodies. For example, nurses are regulated by the College of Nurses of Ontario, teachers are regulated by the Ontario College of Nurses, chiropractors are regulated by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario and lawyers are regulated by the Law Society of Upper Canada. Often individuals who are part of regulated professions are subject to the investigation of complaints filed with their regulating body. This can lead to very serious consequences that affect your livelihood. Kelly can assist you in defending against those complaints and will represent you in disciplinary hearings if you are facing them.
Bail
Getting out of custody

Being arrested and charged with a criminal offence is a very stressful process. Being detained and forced to stay in jail before your trial can make that process even more difficult. If someone you know has been arrested and held for bail, contact us immediately to get help keeping him/her out of custody. We will assist in contacting potential sureties, putting together a strong bail plan and running the bail hearing itself.
Independent Legal Advice
Pre-Charge Advice and Other Criminal Issues

Often people are facing situations where they need the input of a criminal lawyer in order to make informed decisions. This is called independent legal advice. For example, if you have not yet been charged with an offence, but fear you will be or if you want to speak to a lawyer before giving input to a Crown attorney, contact us to set up an appointment for Independent Legal Advice.
Fingerprint Destruction and Pardons
Post Criminal Charges

Criminal Records are very difficult to deal with. They can impair employment and travel opportunities. If you have been charged, but those charges were withdrawn, you may still wish to apply to the police to have your fingerprints, photos and record of disposition destroyed. If you have been convicted of a criminal offence, you may wish to apply for a pardon. Contact us if you would like assistance with removing records of your criminal charges or convictions.
